Taiko Risshiden V DX is an HD remaster of a historical strategy role-playing game set in Japan’s war-torn 16th century. Players take on the role of Toyotomi Hideyoshi or other real historical figures, pursuing personal ambitions amid the Warring States period. Rather than following a single path to power, the game frames this era as a chance to choose what kind of life and legacy to build.
That choice shapes the game’s distinctive career-driven design. You can serve a lord as a vassal, become a daimyo and seek to unify the country, or pursue success as a ninja, pirate, or merchant. Other professions include doctor, blacksmith, and tea ceremony master. These varied ambitions make the game’s historical setting more than a backdrop for military conquest: advancement can come through very different roles and goals.
The DX edition adds more than 100 characters, along with new scenarios, events, endings, and skills. It also includes quality-of-life features such as auto-save and an ending list, giving this remaster both additional content and practical refinements. Its central appeal is the freedom to approach Sengoku-era society through many professions, with each career offering a different route toward realizing a character’s ambitions.
