SWORN casts players as Soulforged knights challenging a fallen Camelot, where a corrupted Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table rule. Its Arthurian setting pairs familiar legendary figures with a comic-book world inspired by American artist Mike Mignola. The quest also leads players to discover the source of the darkness spreading across Avalon, with Merlin and Nimue among the powerful figures they can befriend and learn from.
Combat builds around choosing a character, weapon, and abilities, then shaping that combination with blessings from the Fae Lords. More than 200 blessings offer different ways to fight, including Titania’s cleansing fires and Oberon’s wind-driven fury. The game emphasizes mixing these choices into varied builds, while upgrades from the Beacon of Avalore can develop a squire into a champion. Its changing battlegrounds and challenge against Arthur give those decisions a clear purpose: becoming strong enough to face the king.
SWORN supports solo play as well as co-op for up to four players, so its action can be approached as an individual roguelike run or a shared effort. In co-op, the stated focus on combining character strengths gives coordination a role alongside personal build choices; the same fight against Camelot’s forces frames both formats.
