In Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy, a voyage to Nova Drakonia, a dinosaur-infested frontier, takes an unexpected turn when a fellow passenger entrusts the protagonist with a mysterious artefact. That discovery leads into a story about the world’s hidden past and choices that may shape its future. The setting draws on a 17th-century Earth-like world, with political rivalries, local cultures and a large cast of characters contributing to its lore-rich atmosphere.
The game pairs a classic isometric presentation with a classless roleplaying system in which stats and skills support different approaches. Players can use dialogue and lore, intimidation and force, or rogue skills such as bluffing and stealing. Combat can shift between turn-based strategy and real-time with pause, while recruitable companions bring their own skills, personalities and conversations. Exploration also includes activities such as crafting, mining, sneaking and lockpicking, giving character choices room to extend beyond battles.
Its non-linear world, branching conversations and flexible combat modes help explain what players are gathering to experience: a substantial old-school roleplaying journey shaped by exploration and personal choices.
