Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition frames empire-building as a contest across a dangerous galaxy. Players customize starships, build fleets, explore distant regions and expand their territory, while researching alien technologies to strengthen their forces. Its central conflict also has a science-fiction edge: the Loa, artificial intelligences once enslaved, return seeking vengeance against their former masters.
The game combines turn-based strategy with real-time skirmishes, linking long-term planning to direct fleet combat. The Loa add a distinctive angle to that design: their ships can metamorphose into forms suited to the task, and their colonies can be established on rocky planets. The edition also includes the End of Flesh expansion, which introduces this playable race, alongside additional technologies, weapons, encounters and ship sections for other factions.
The broader edition brings together the base game, the expansion and earlier DLC, with its focus on faction identity, fleet composition and the push to shape a galactic empire.
