Sword and Fairy is a single-player Chinese-language role-playing game built around fate and a mythic world of humans, spirits, gods and demons. Its story follows Li Xiaoyao, an inn worker with ambitions of becoming a celebrated hero, who is drawn into a conspiracy and tasked with escorting Zhao Ling’er toward Miaojiang in search of her mother. Their journey brings them together with swordswoman Lin Yueru and the spirited Miao girl A Nu, while Zhao Ling’er’s hidden origins emerge alongside the threat posed by the Moon Worshipper cult.
Combat uses a third-person, turn-based system in which players can control up to three characters at once. Each turn offers choices such as ordinary attacks, team attacks, magical techniques and thrown items; support items and magic can restore the party’s health, while fleeing is also an option. This gives battles a party-management focus, balancing offense and recovery rather than relying on a single character’s actions.
The game’s identity blends wuxia and xianxia adventure with Chinese folklore, framing its travels and conflicts around destiny. Its cast brings contrasting personalities and abilities into that journey, from Li Xiaoyao’s idealistic martial ambition to Zhao Ling’er’s supernatural heritage and A Nu’s use of witchcraft and poison magic. The store listing identifies Chinese as the game’s only available language, so its story, character writing and poetic presentation are oriented toward Chinese-language players.
