Surgeon Simulator 2 turns the operating theatre into a slapstick physics playground. Set inside the Bossa Labs Medical Facility, it puts Bob’s survival in the hands of surgeons armed with tools ranging from a scalpel to a sink plunger. The goal may be serious, but the game frames its procedures as chaotic, comic challenges rather than a sober medical simulation.
In Story Mode, players open ribcages, select transplant organs and try to keep Bob from bleeding out. The facility complicates that work with labyrinthine corridors, puzzles and traps, while Campaign Mode wraps the surgical mayhem in a story about the mysterious institution. Its scenarios also stretch well beyond conventional operating rooms, with settings such as space stations, discos, bowling alleys and carnivals. An included level editor adds another dimension to the game’s scenario-based design.
The Steam listing identifies Surgeon Simulator 2 as single-player, and its publisher’s note says multiplayer functionality was removed before the game’s transfer to Infogrames. Its blend of clumsy tool handling, puzzle-filled spaces and irreverent presentation gives each operation the character of a comic challenge.
