Sunken Engine casts a ship-repair business as both a family inheritance and a source of mounting unease. After the player’s father dies, the task is to keep his shop operating, satisfy customers and maintain order in town while investigating the mysteries he left behind. Ships arriving from a busy sea route bring practical repair work, but the game’s premise makes each new job a possible encounter with an ominous secret.
The simulation combines workshop upkeep with financial and supernatural pressures. Players can renovate and customize tools, workspace and decorations, while selling valuable goods recovered from the sea to help sustain the business and care for family. Repairs also develop over time: earning licenses opens work on additional ship types and more complex jobs. Meanwhile, supernatural events threaten the player character’s sanity; losing mental balance makes work harder and may draw the attention of dark entities. The result is a business-management framework colored by horror, rather than ship maintenance in isolation.
Listed as a single-player game, Sunken Engine is designed around one person balancing customer demands, household needs and unsettling discoveries.
