Sullen is a fast-paced platformer set inside a circle, where you guide a small pentagon through hazardous stages and ultimately face the attacking sullen eye. Its minimal, colorful presentation frames a demanding survival challenge: a level requires you to clear its stages and boss battle with only three lives. The premise is simple, but progress depends on recognizing what each stage asks of you.
Each stage has its own pattern to learn and overcome. Stay alive for thirty seconds and you advance; clear two stages to earn a checkpoint, which sends you back to the previous checkpoint after a death. Checkpoints are limited to four uses per attempt, so they offer some recovery without removing the pressure. Dodging, jumping, and shooting are central to making it through the sequence.
The game offers Normal and Endless modes, plus Practice mode for learning patterns. Its five levels contain forty unique stages and five mini-boss battles, giving the compact format plenty of distinct tests. Its electronic soundtrack and full controller support round out the focused arcade-style design.
