Strategic War in Europe frames World War II as a broad command challenge rather than a single battlefield contest. Across a compact map designed to cover large-scale operations, players can take charge of countries and direct historical units and leaders. Its “easy to learn, hard to master” approach pairs clear basic rules with many strategic options, keeping the premise accessible while leaving room for difficult decisions.
Those decisions reach from diplomacy and research to supply and combat. Players can change governments, call elections, stage coups, develop technology and manage the economy, while railway and water routes help supply troops. Weather, terrain and supplies shape tactical battles. Air operations include reconnaissance, interception and bombardment, while the naval system brings convoys, raiders and sea battles into the wider campaign. The result connects national-level choices with conditions on the battlefield.
The game offers seven scenarios, including historical settings spanning 1939 to 1944 and a fictional 1945 conflict between West and East, alongside adjustable difficulty. A player can face the AI alone or use hot-seat and Play By E-Mail modes with friends.
