Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe casts you as the directing mind behind either the Axis or the Allies, responsible for coordinating the nations in your coalition. Its European theater is presented as a top-down hex map, with each hex representing 20 miles and key cities, railways, logistical centers, and maritime trade routes shaping the strategic picture. Rather than following one unit or battlefield, you oversee the conduct of the wider war.
Turns involve more than moving forces. You balance land, sea, and air operations with research, industrial capacity, and limited resources, while choosing how to use each nation’s distinct troops, equipment, and strengths. Fog of War leaves you with incomplete knowledge of enemy plans, and the game’s AI is described as exploiting weaknesses and counterattacking. Diplomacy and intelligence add ways to influence neutral powers or undermine an opponent beyond direct combat.
The campaign offers a 1939 starting point alongside scenarios beginning in later years, and more than 100 strategic Decision Events add choices to that framework. A scenario editor also lets players create what-if situations, maps, or campaigns.
