Stormworks: Build and Rescue puts players in charge of designing and piloting an air, sea, and land rescue service. Its central appeal is the close link between construction and response: assemble a vehicle from blocks, customize it, and program its behavior with an in-game logic system, then take it into missions shaped by the job at hand. Boats, helicopters, and submersibles are among the craft available to build, and the game’s physics make weather part of the challenge rather than mere scenery.
The two main play styles give that engineering loop different purposes. Career mode begins with a small search-and-rescue operation, then ties mission work to finances, construction space, safety, and expansion across the world map. Creative mode removes survival and realism restrictions, letting players start with complex builds and pursue replicas or original designs. For a more demanding rescue experience, optional survival settings add advanced engine and fuel systems, vehicle damage, fire, and hazards to the player.
Missions range from rescuing people at sea to fighting fires and repairing oil rigs, with dynamic weather and waves testing whether a vehicle suits its task. The game also supports cooperative multiplayer, where friends can operate multi-crew craft and coordinate complex missions, alongside single-player play and sharing through Steam Workshop.
