In an alternate 1940s United States, an alien robot invasion threatens Coastal City, and the Steel Rats ride out to stop it. This action-racing game casts the player as a member of a biker gang, battling Junkbots on a flame-spewing, saw-bladed motorcycle. Its retro-futurist setting gives the conflict a pulpy, mechanical edge, while the city’s rooftops and enemy-filled tunnels turn the ride into more than a straight race.
Steel Rats blends 2.5D stunt-bike action with precise platforming and vehicular combat. Players can steer up walls, flip through the air, and attack with close-range strikes or shooting; the bike’s arsenal includes saw blades, harpoon guns, and flame-spewing exhausts. Four gang members bring distinct abilities and weapons, and players can switch between them at any time. Exploring levels also means looking for collectibles, unlocking areas, and pursuing leaderboard records.
Within that structure, Steel Rats distinguishes itself through the motorcycle’s dual role as transport and weapon, with stunt riding and combat woven together as players push through the Junkbot invasion.
