On the mining planet Kwalasha, Arachnids threaten the population, and Colonel Hawthorne leads the Mobile Infantry in a campaign to reclaim the planet. Starship Troopers: Terran Command frames that conflict as a strategy game about directing troops against an enemy whose numbers are formidable, but whose tactics lack the Mobile Infantry’s training.
The battles reward careful positioning rather than simply sending units forward. True Line of Sight and True Line of Fire affect where troops can see and shoot, making choke points and elevated ground useful while leaving room for ambushes. Specialized units bring distinct tools: Rifle Troopers can hold back Arachnids with shotguns, M11 Marauders can fire mortar barrages, and Fleet Liaison can summon reinforcements or airstrikes. Underground hives add another tactical problem, as players balance attacks on nests against the danger of Arachnids emerging from tunnel openings.
Alongside its military campaign, Territory Mode gives battles a territorial objective: capture Territory Points for a steady flow of resources on maps made for that mode.
