Starminer puts players at the controls of a massive warship in a real-time space setting governed by simulated physics. Its central challenge is to turn asteroid resources into an efficient operation, weighing material needs against the power, tonnage, and size of the ships and stations being built. Fleet design is a choice between smaller, more nimble vessels and a heavily armed, larger installation.
Mining feeds several connected systems: materials can be processed for profit or used to maintain and expand a mercenary fleet that takes missions from bidders across the sector. Research unlocks new modules and tools, while link gates open routes to other sectors and their resources. Expansion also carries risk. As mining and construction increase the fleet’s heat signature, aliens may detect it, making the player’s own designs and defense systems central to protecting the operation.
The mix of resource management, construction, missions, and defensive combat makes Starminer a strategy and simulation game with an action-oriented threat.
