Set centuries after Earth’s destruction, Starborne: Frontiers places humanity among the stars in a galaxy divided by ten rival factions. Their agendas range from the Children of the Everliving’s pursuit of eternal life to MPL’s profit-seeking and Tianchao’s fight against corruption. The larger threat is the Abyss, a mysterious force that has appeared in the Frontier; players take the role of a commander seeking its secrets and trying to stop its advance.
Fleet-building and tactical decisions define the play. The game offers more than one hundred ships with distinct abilities and backstories, while weapons, shields, software, gear slots, and implants let players customize their forces. Battles reward planning: commanders assemble fleet combinations and choose formations around ships’ targeting patterns. The Abyss adds an exploration-focused mode in which players choose a route and make decisions that affect their rewards, alongside a story campaign, bounties, and a PvP arena.
Its multi-player and MMO classifications are reflected in an arena for battles against opponents and The Vault, where players join an alliance to raid for resources. Events and themed bounties add further activities, while the strategic core remains the command of a customized fleet in a faction-torn science-fiction setting.
