STAR WARS™: Squadrons centers on first-person starfighter combat, placing players in the cockpits of New Republic and Imperial craft after the events of Return of the Jedi. Its single-player story alternates between the two factions, while the multiplayer premise brings pilots together for squad-based space battles. The mix gives the game both a campaign framework and a competitive, team-focused format.
Combat asks pilots to manage their ship as well as their aim: players can divert power among weapons, shields, and engines, and modify starfighters to suit different playstyles. Familiar craft such as the X-wing and TIE fighter sit alongside other fleet classes, while battles unfold across locations including Yavin Prime and Galitan. The cockpit perspective is central to the design, and the game also supports playing in VR.
Those modes frame Squadrons as a game built around both solo piloting and coordinated online engagements, rather than a single kind of space combat.
