Set after the destruction of the first Death Star, STAR WARS™ Rebellion casts the player as commander of either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire. The objective is to dominate the galaxy, with the allegiance of as many as 200 worlds at stake. That premise gives the conflict a political dimension alongside the familiar contest of military power: the game presents force, diplomacy and covert operations as different approaches to winning support.
The strategy unfolds in a real-time environment, while a dedicated management layer covers manufacturing, resources, fleet deployment and mission assignments. These systems make Rebellion’s scope broader than a sequence of battles: command involves preparing forces and directing operations as well as deciding how to pursue galactic control. When fleets clash, players take command in 3D battle simulations, a distinct change of focus from the larger strategic view.
Steam lists both single-player and multiplayer, including PvP and shared or split-screen PvP.
