STAR WARS™ Battlefront II (Classic, 2005) is a squad-based action game built around battles across the Star Wars galaxy. Its story campaign follows Darth Vader’s elite 501st Legion through a saga in which players’ actions affect the course of each battle. The setting ranges from the corridors of the second Death Star to Dagobah’s swamps and the Tantive IV, bringing familiar film locations into large-scale combat.
Combat combines six soldier classes with faction-specific hero characters and a broad roster of ground and space vehicles. Players can fight on foot, take control of craft such as the BARC speeder and AT-RT, or fly starfighters. The game also lets players wield lightsabers and use Force powers as Jedi heroes and villains, adding a character-focused layer to its battlefield action. Space combat can shift into boarding action: pilots may land on an enemy capital ship and continue the fight on foot inside it.
That mix of ground warfare, aerial dogfights, ship interiors and recognizable Star Wars settings gives the game its distinctive scope. Its battles draw on locations from across the saga, including Episode III environments such as Utapau, Mustafar and the space above Coruscant. The original product description also lists online modes including Conquest, Assault, Capture the Flag and Hunt, with multiplayer battles for up to 64 players. The result is a shooter designed to let players move between infantry combat, vehicles and heroic powers within the same Star Wars conflict.
