Star Traders: Frontiers is a space RPG set after distant human colonies have reconnected through hyperwarp, bringing commerce and renewed political conflict across the galaxy. You command a ship and crew amid rival factions, old feuds and alien threats, shaping a personal career in a universe where exploration and intrigue share the stage.
That career can take many forms: merchant, spy, smuggler, pirate, explorer or bounty hunter, among other roles. The game pairs those choices with hands-on ship and crew management. Select from different hulls and upgrades, assign crew talents and gear, and decide how to deal with other factions. Procedurally generated galactic maps provide the setting for encounters with distinct characters and enemies, while decisions influence political, economic and personal vendettas. The crew also changes in response to the captain’s choices, reflecting the tone of life aboard the ship.
Play is structured around a solo captain’s evolving journey rather than a shared multiplayer session: Steam lists the game as single-player. Save slots support trying different builds or storylines, while adjustable difficulty and optional character permadeath offer different approaches to a run.
