Squirbs starts with a cosmic mishap: the Universe Crystal shatters, splitting Squirb into two blue characters. Their journey through forests, underground caves, snowy mountains and a magical castle is a puzzle-platforming quest to collect the crystal fragments and restore the universe. The four settings give the adventure a changing backdrop as its challenges build.
The defining twist is that one set of controls moves both Squirbs simultaneously. A jump that helps one character can put the other in danger, so players have to consider each movement from both characters’ positions rather than simply rushing toward the exit. The game pairs this coordination puzzle with platforming, and its levels range from easy to intensely challenging, introducing a variety of mechanics as progress continues.
Squirbs offers a single-player campaign with more than 100 levels, alongside online co-op and 20 levels designed specifically for cooperative play. The game’s appeal rests on coordinating two vulnerable characters, whether the challenge is approached solo or together.
