Spoids casts the player as commander of a Remote Defense Space Station, responding to distress calls as an invasion spreads from planet to planet. Its throwback tower-defense premise centers on holding back relentless enemy streams long enough to complete each mission. The game pairs that defensive pressure with a mission-led campaign, where new assignments bring further perils to confront.
Its objective-based medal system gives each planet a way to measure progress, with stronger medals tied to completing more objectives. The challenge is not only about placing defenses: different Spoids bring distinct threats, while newly unlocked towers expand the arsenal available to counter them. Missions are fully voice acted by characters the commander helps protect, adding a narrative frame to the strategic routine. Players can control the defense with mouse and keyboard or an Xbox controller.
After earning at least a Gold medal on a planet, players unlock its unlimited wave mode, shifting the focus from mission objectives to surviving as long as possible and setting new highscores.
