SpellRogue is a turn-based deckbuilding roguelike set in a world being consumed by the Void. Corruption has transformed once-peaceful lands into hostile territory, and the journey leads through places such as the Deadwoods and Scorched Desert in pursuit of its source. Its defining twist is that a spell’s power depends on Mana Dice: each roll shapes the turn, making control over chance central to both the setting’s magic and its strategy.
Rather than simply accepting a roll, players can reroll, duplicate, split, flip, or enchant dice to shape the resources available for casting. Enemies interfere with that plan in different ways: twisted mushrooms spread debuffs through spells, fiery elementals make spells dangerous to cast, and Voidbringers can undermine dice rolls. The result is a tactical loop of adapting spell choices and dice manipulation to threats, rather than relying on a fixed sequence of attacks. Dice Slingers add distinct approaches to this system, including Azar’s fire and Hazel’s earth magic, while Lapis commands water-themed defenses and attacks.
The broader format combines battles across three acts with a large collection of spells, enemies, and artifacts that can shape a build. Descent offers a way to raise the difficulty, and Daily Challenges add changing conditions to runs. Its appeal rests on the interplay between deckbuilding, volatile dice, and adapting a magical build as the journey advances.
