Spellmasons is a turn-based tactical roguelike built around inventing spell combinations rather than relying on one fixed attack plan. Its spells can alter one another: casting Swap on an enemy, for instance, can redirect the rest of a combo toward the caster’s former position. That interaction makes positioning part of the puzzle, as players look for ways to link enemies and finish them with a follow-up spell.
The system also encourages changing tactics over time. Spells grow more expensive with repeated use and cheaper as turns pass, while runes let players enhance and specialize their magic. Champion enemies add further complications through modifiers such as Growth or Slime, pushing players to rethink familiar strategies. The result is a deliberate, creative combat format where the appeal lies in working out how individual effects can combine.
Spellmasons supports solo play as well as online co-op, and its faction-based turn system lets co-op partners act at the same time. Cooperation can include rescuing a friend or accidentally damaging one, so multiplayer carries the same tactical uncertainty as its spellcraft.
