Set in 2510, Space Merchants: Arena places players amid a conflict between the Army of Seven Stars and the scattered pirate faction known as the Black Flags. Its cross-platform spaceship battles give that futuristic war a direct competitive focus: pilots fight in free-for-all encounters, join red or blue teams, or pursue an objective across distinct arenas.
The modes change what victory demands. Free-for-all is a fight to survive and eliminate rivals, while team battles reward coordinated combat; on Tristar, teams can score by holding a central mining area, and Jupiter’s Capture the Artefact match asks them to seize an enemy artefact and bring it home. A training arena pits a player against an AI opponent. Battles also feed into progression: experience develops skills and stats, money buys and upgrades ships and equipment, and players can improve weapons, shields, and armour.
Its tactical touches go beyond piloting, too. Players can hack map turrets to fight for them, or attempt to disrupt an opponent’s movement and firing, with success affected by the target’s AI Firewall skill. Leaderboards track performance, tying individual battles to the game’s wider rivalry.
