Set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Space Hulk: Deathwing puts players in the role of a Terminator from the Deathwing, a Space Marine force associated with the Dark Angels Chapter. The battle takes place aboard a Space Hulk, a drifting mass of wreckage and other debris that may hold ancient technology and is often infested with Genestealers. Its cramped tunnels give this shooter a markedly enclosed setting for the fight.
Combat progression connects mission experience and battle performance to character growth. Experience earned during missions brings skills, abilities and equipment, while Fervor Points can be spent across three skill trees to strengthen abilities and unlock powers. Players wear Terminator armour and wield Space Marine weaponry; the Librarian can also master destructive Psyker powers. These systems give the battles a progression layer alongside the game’s close-quarters premise.
The game lists both single-player and multiplayer, with co-op allowing a squad of Terminators to face the threat together. Its player-count context therefore includes both solo play and cooperative sessions, rather than a single format. That distinction matters when interpreting activity for a game built around claustrophobic missions, character development and the choice to fight alongside friends.
