Solarpunk is a survival game set across floating islands in a technologically advanced world. Its focus is less on a hostile wilderness than on making a home: players can design and decorate a base, grow food, craft gadgets, and venture to distant islands. The result is a blend of building, resource gathering, farming, and exploration, with the open sky as its setting.
Energy management gives that routine a distinctive practical layer. Solar panels and wind turbines generate electricity, but weather affects output, so players must plan for changing conditions, store power in batteries, and use wireless energy around the base. Automation can take some repetitive work off their hands: transport drones gather resources, while the game also describes automated plant watering. Farming centers on fruit and vegetables, and animals are treated as companions in a relationship of coexistence; well-treated pigs, for example, dig up truffles.
The game supports solo play or cooperative sessions with friends, with each player keeping a separate inventory and the option to build together or maintain a personal space. Players can also build their own airships and use them to reach nearby islands in search of resources.
