Set in war-torn Berlin as World War II ends and the Cold War begins, Sniper Elite casts players as an American OSS sniper working behind enemy lines under German disguise. His mission is to prevent Soviet forces from seizing Germany’s nuclear secrets, giving the single-player campaign a clear espionage objective alongside its battlefield stakes.
The game’s shooting design makes each shot a considered task: players can account for gravity, wind, posture, heart rate and breathing, while realistic weapons and bullet ballistics shape the simulation. Third-person movement supports close-quarters action, then first-person aiming takes over for sniping. A multi-angle Bullet Cam provides kill confirmation, and nonlinear missions are designed to play differently from one run to the next.
Alongside its substantial single-player campaign, Sniper Elite offers LAN battles for up to eight players, with Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Assassination modes.
