Set in wartime Italy after the events of its predecessor, Sniper Elite 4 follows covert agent and marksman Karl Fairburne as he fights alongside the Italian Resistance. Its large campaign environments range from coastal towns and forests to mountain valleys and Nazi-built structures, giving players room to choose routes and search for sniper positions, side missions and collectibles rather than follow a single narrow path.
The shooting is built around deliberate marksmanship: rifle shots account for wind, gravity and heart rate, while weapon upgrades let players adjust traits such as scope magnification, muzzle velocity and stability. Stealth and traversal shape the other half of the approach, with climbing and hanging routes helping Fairburne reach enemies from unexpected angles. The returning X-ray Kill Camera also covers melee attacks and kills involving explosive traps, emphasizing the game’s blend of careful positioning and forceful combat.
Its competitive offering is described as matches for up to 12 players across six modes, while dedicated co-op modes accommodate up to four. These options sit alongside the campaign’s focus on tactical freedom, rather than replacing its central stealth-and-sniping design.
