Sniper Elite 3 casts players as a hunter operating across North Africa during a conflict with Germany’s Afrika Korps. Its campaign follows a mission to sabotage a Nazi super-weapons programme, with action set among canyons, oases and ancient cities. Rather than funneling every encounter through one route, its large levels offer multiple paths and primary and secondary objectives that can be tackled in any order.
The shooting is built around rifle ballistics: distance, gravity, wind and the player character’s heart rate all factor into aiming. Stealth and planning sit alongside direct combat, with distractions, explosive traps and sound masking among the ways to shape an encounter. If a situation turns against the player, the Relocate mechanic offers a chance to slip away and resume the hunt from the shadows. The X-Ray kill cam emphasizes the impact of shots, while separate vehicle takedowns depict damage to targets including armoured cars, trucks and Tiger tanks.
Sniper Elite 3 supports a solo campaign as well as two-player online cooperative play across the campaign, with Overwatch and Survival as dedicated co-op modes. Competitive online play adds five distinct modes.
