Smalland: Survive the Wilds casts the player as a Vanguard sent into a wilderness after the giants have disappeared. The world’s familiar features become monumental at this scale: puddles are lake-sized, trees rise like skyscrapers, and cracks in roads open into caverns. Dense forests, hazardous swamps and strange ruins make exploration a trek through varied terrain, while hidden NPCs offer lore and knowledge about surviving there.
Survival combines scavenging and crafting with the need to prepare for a world where insects and other creatures can treat you as prey. Players gather or refine resources to build encampments, choosing between a ground-level site and a settlement high in the trees. Crafted armour can provide resistances and abilities, while winged armour and a grappling hook offer ways to glide or swing through the environment. Recipes also let players tame and ride creatures, from grasshoppers to damselflies and spiders, turning the tiny scale into a central part of movement and exploration.
The game supports single-player as well as cooperative online play for up to 10 players.
