Slay the Princess; The Pristine Cut sets a stark task in a cabin in the woods: reach the Princess in the basement and kill her, or risk the end of the world. But the premise immediately puts that mission under pressure. The Princess can charm, lie and make promises, while another voice questions whether killing her is right. This tension between an urgent instruction and competing interpretations gives the story its psychological-horror edge.
Play unfolds as a branching visual novel: what the player says and believes determines both their identity and how the narrative develops. The game describes itself as choice-driven, with dramatic branching and light RPG elements, rather than a combat-focused adventure. Its presentation is distinctive too, pairing full voice acting by Jonathan Sims and Nichole Goodnight with backgrounds and character art drawn by hand in pencil. The Pristine Cut also documents added chapters, expanded routes, a new ending and a gallery for revisiting scenes and finding secrets.
A count can indicate how many people are playing at a particular moment, but the game itself centers on each player’s decisions, the Princess’s resistance and the consequences that unfold along the chosen path.
