Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri™ Planetary Pack casts humanity’s push into space as a contest over a single planet. An expedition of scientists and security strategists arrives with differing convictions, and the player chooses which of seven factions to lead. Each faction follows its own agenda and leader’s objective, so success calls for understanding what a rival faction wants as well as what it does well.
The strategy has a hands-on tactical element: players can design units and balance their speed, power and toughness to fit current needs. Factions also use distinct AI models, giving their opponents different strategic identities rather than presenting one uniform rival. That combination of faction-specific goals and customizable units makes the struggle for planetary rule the game’s central design hook, framed in science fiction as a spin-off of the Civilization series.
The store lists single-player and multiplayer, including PvP and LAN PvP. The setting, faction agendas and tactical customization remain the defining points of what players are stepping into.
