Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is a strategy and simulation game about guiding an empire through distinct periods of human history. Choose a leader from the past and shape a civilization through exploration, settlement, technological progress, cooperation, or conquest. Its central design question is whether an empire should keep one identity, change as history advances, or blend elements from different civilizations.
The campaign moves through the Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern Ages. Scientific, cultural, military, and economic milestones can unlock advantages for the next Age, while Triumphs provide objectives tied to different paths toward victory. Leader and civilization selection are separate: a leader’s ability endures across Ages, while players decide whether their civilization persists, evolves, or hybridizes. Expand with new Cities or specialized Towns, build architectural Wonders, and order Commanders to move armies together.
Play can be solo or online with others. Multiplayer supports campaigns spanning multiple Ages as well as matches within a single Age, and cross-play is supported between PC and consoles.
