Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate turns a chessboard into a lopsided royal duel. The opposing army has defected to the white side, leaving the player’s black king with a shotgun and a fight for his kingdom. Victory on each floor means surviving checkmate while taking down the enemy king, so the familiar board becomes a compact tactical contest with an unusually direct objective.
Each turn asks for a choice between moving the king and firing at an enemy piece. A shot leaves the shotgun unloaded, making another move necessary before it can be fired again; positioning and timing therefore matter alongside the aim of removing threats. Clear a floor and choose between two randomly offered packages, each pairing an upgrade for the player with one for the opposing side. That trade-off shapes a run as it develops, rather than simply rewarding every victory with a one-sided boost.
The game is built around single-player runs, typically lasting about 20 minutes, and offers more than one way to keep playing: an endless mode, an arcade-style chase mode, and a mode centered on raiding the kingdom. Its unlockable cards, difficulty ranks, achievements, and mod support add further goals beyond winning a floor.
