Shiren the Wanderer and Koppa, his talking ferret partner, are drawn to Serpentcoil Island by a vision of a girl in distress. Rumors of lost pirate gold and a powerful monster on the island’s highest peak bring other adventurers there, too. The story progresses through conversations and dungeon completions, framing exploration as part of Shiren and Koppa’s investigation into the island’s mysteries.
The Mystery Dungeon changes its layout, tools, friends, and foes with each entry, so a familiar route is never guaranteed. Preparation and adaptation are central: players can learn about threats, gather resources, and recruit allies as they work toward the dungeon’s depths and summits. Convenience features include a hotbar for projectiles and magic staves, and a mini-map that tracks the player’s steps. The game also presents multiple dungeons with different difficulty levels.
The game is listed as single-player, while its online Rescue feature lets a player call for help after collapsing in a dungeon. A rescued player can resume where they left off without losing progress.
