Sherlock Holmes Chapter One follows a young Sherlock on a Mediterranean island in the nineteenth century, before he becomes the celebrated detective. Political corruption, crime and suspicion of outsiders make the setting an obstacle as well as a backdrop. The story also centers on Jon, Sherlock’s close companion and sounding board, while choices about truth and justice shape the man Sherlock becomes.
Investigation ranges across the city rather than following a single stated route. Players seek clues and rumors, use disguises and tags, then pin evidence together in a mind palace to build a case. When danger calls for action, Sherlock can use observation to identify an enemy’s vulnerabilities or exploit the environment; weapons and direct violence are also presented as possible tools. This blend gives deduction, exploration and confrontation distinct roles in solving problems.
The game is listed as single-player, so its open-world detective format is built around one player making investigative and moral decisions, not coordinating with other players.
