Shadowrun: Hong Kong is a standalone computer RPG set in a near-future world where technology and magic coexist. Its Hong Kong is a prosperous port surrounded by political turmoil, and its crowded sprawl sits alongside gleaming towers and corporate power. The story follows a team of runners caught up in dangerous conflicts, with branching narrative and character development shaping the campaign.
Combat is turn-based and tactical: players can seek cover, close in for melee attacks, or use spells against groups of enemies. A broad selection of weapons and spells supports varied choices, while the crew’s members bring distinct skills and strengths to missions. Character growth is classless, so an initial archetype does not prevent developing skills in other directions. The game also includes a bonus campaign set in the weeks after the main story, with the team confronting the corporate police force that previously hunted them.
The Extended Edition also features developer commentary, revised interface elements, and additions such as a Cyberware skill tree and installable Cyberweapons. Together, its story, tactical encounters, and customizable crew give the game a distinctive mix of cyberpunk role-playing and strategy.
