Shadow Tactics: Aiko's Choice is a standalone stealth strategy game set in Japan during the early Edo period, with a story centered on kunoichi Aiko. Her former sensei, the spymaster Lady Chiyo, returns and draws Aiko and her companions into a hunt connected to her past. The game revisits the world and characters of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun while telling a previously untold tale focused on Aiko.
You control a team of five assassins, each with distinct skills: Aiko uses camouflage and can distract enemies disguised as a geisha, while her companions bring abilities such as sword and shuriken attacks, traps, decoys, and marksmanship. Infiltration is built around planning and choice. Set traps, poison or distract opponents, use stealth attacks that can be lethal or non-lethal, or try to avoid contact altogether. Shadow Mode lets you synchronize the team’s actions to strike multiple enemies at once.
The missions take place in settings including hidden forest camps and lively Edo-period towns, and the product describes three main missions alongside three shorter interludes. Three difficulty levels offer different challenges, while the combination of character-specific abilities and multiple approaches makes tactical planning central to the experience. Although Aiko’s Choice is presented as a standalone expansion, it is also designed as another visit to the main game’s setting and story. Mission content may differ from the broader main game.
