Secrets of Grindea is an old-school action RPG that draws on the look and spirit of classic SNES adventures, while also poking fun at them. Its story sends players through fantastical lands to fight enemies and bosses in search of truth, friendship, and rare treasures. A large cast of colorful characters gives that journey a story-led backdrop.
Combat and character building are designed for experimentation: players can create a character and mix skills from nine categories, choosing among 31 spells and skills. The adventure also branches into activities such as fishing, crafting, pet taming, gardening, home design, and mini-games, offering alternatives to the main quest. Boss fights, from giant robots to mimics, add further encounters along the way.
The game supports solo play and co-op for up to four players, letting friends follow the storyline together or lend a hand with tougher challenges. It also has Arcade Mode, separate from Story Mode, where a single-life roguelite run involves fighting upward while building a town.
