Second Stellar casts players as twin Starfarers Asphodene and Eridani, whose journey through the cosmos brings conflict, cooperation and a search for answers. Its horde-roguelike runs pair the two characters, each with an individual weapon and items gained when leveling up. Rather than managing one fighter at a time, players can swap between them during combat and bring their weapons to bear in tandem.
Buildcrafting gives that character-switching a distinctive tactical edge. Weapons carry multiple skills and passives, while Starfarers can draw on memories of other worlds and their unique abilities. The voyage leads across varied settings, from neon skyscrapers to alien oceans, before elite foes challenge the strength accumulated along the way. After a voyage, character-specific skill trees offer further upgrades, including options such as an invincible blink or a mechanical ally.
The game is listed as single-player, so its two-character combat describes switching between fighters within a run, not a multiplayer format.
