Scythe: Digital Edition imagines Europa in the 1920s, years after a devastating war whose mechanical legacy still shapes the continent. The Factory, an independent city-state, built the imposing Mechs now roaming its snowy landscapes, and five rival factions seek wealth and power. Players lead one of them, exploring and claiming territory, recruiting forces, and developing their position in a world where victory is framed as something achieved with and for the people.
Its strategy rests on asymmetric starts and long-term economic development rather than combat luck. Each faction begins with distinct resources, a location, and a secret objective; players can improve construction, build map structures, enlist recruits, and activate Mechs to deter invasions. Combat itself is resolved through player choice, while encounters with newly explored lands introduce a limited element of chance. The order in which players advance their economy and technologies helps distinguish one playthrough from another, even when returning to the same faction.
The listed formats include single-player and multiplayer, with online PvP and shared or split-screen PvP also supported.
