SCP: Nine-Tailed Fox casts players as the commander of Foxtrot Unit 1, a Mobile Task Force sent into a secret research facility after numerous anomalous entities escape containment. Built on the premise of SCP - Containment Breach, this survival horror game places the squad amid a crisis that threatens the Foundation’s effort to keep dangerous phenomena from the outside world.
The central task is not simply to fight through the facility: escaped SCPs must be secured, and the game stresses that lethal force should be a last resort because their integrity matters to the Foundation and its research. D-Class personnel present a different threat, described as potentially armed and violent, with the stated directive to terminate them on sight. That contrast gives the crisis a distinctive edge: the commander must contend with hostile people while preserving anomalous subjects whenever possible.
Its play formats range from a single-player containment mission to online multiplayer, including Team Deathmatch between Mobile Task Force and Chaos Insurgency and a cooperative PvE Waves mode. In Waves, a team faces successive infected attackers and other escaped anomalies.
