Scene Investigators casts you as a trainee investigator in the near future, working through reconstructed case files to qualify as a licensed investigator. Rather than following a story trail from clue to clue, the game centers on making sense of crime scenes through observation and deduction. Its design is aimed at players drawn to detective fiction, true crime and escape-room puzzles, but its cases ask for more than finding an obvious answer.
At each scene, you inspect environmental details, take notes and connect evidence to possible motives and relationships between perpetrators and victims. There are no hints or handholding, and a case may leave evidence missing. Progress therefore depends on weighing what you can see, filling gaps with calculated assumptions and deciding which explanation best fits. Clues such as marks on a wall or traces on an object help suggest a larger account of events, rather than simply unlocking the next step.
The store lists the game as single-player, while its description also encourages discussing findings with a friend, partner or family member. Its emphasis is deduction and interpretation, not the story-led breadcrumb approach the developers contrast with their earlier game, The Painscreek Killings.
