Scavland is a hardcore survival RPG set in Zalesye, a war-ravaged region overshadowed by the mysterious Mist. You play a Vulture, scavenging the remains of the old world while searching for answers about the Mist and your own survival. Its single-player format frames that journey as an individual struggle through a hostile setting rather than a shared multiplayer expedition.
Survival depends on deliberate preparation: ammunition is scarce, weapons can jam, and radiation threatens across the wastes. Players explore abandoned settlements, forests, irradiated swamps, and underground sites, taking jobs, fighting mutants and hostile survivors, and weighing potential loot against the danger of going farther. The world combines a handcrafted landscape with underground locations whose procedural layouts vary across playthroughs. Firearms and attachments can be collected and configured to suit a planned journey, making equipment choices part of the expedition’s risk management.
Scavenging feeds into a broader cycle of trading and relationships. Completing requests builds reputation with Zalesye’s factions and traders, which can unlock new items and opportunities; choices also affect how groups treat you. That progression gives the single-player premise added texture: the player is not only trying to survive each trip, but deciding whom to work with while pursuing the mystery beyond the known roads.
