SaveSync is a Windows and Linux-via-Proton utility for keeping cooperative game saves available when the original host is absent. Rather than requiring a dedicated server or manual file transfers, it lets a group share selected saves so another friend can take over hosting. Its focus is continuity for shared worlds, not a standalone game world of its own.
The workflow combines cloud storage through Steam Workshop with cross-user syncing and automatic host changes when a save is activated. Players can activate or deactivate individual saves, useful for games with limited save slots, and review a file’s history to see who changed it and when, then revert to an earlier version. SaveSync also works alongside Steam Cloud, according to its description, and scans files with Windows Defender before upload and download.
Its supported titles include cooperative and sandbox games such as Stardew Valley, Valheim, Project Zomboid, and Minecraft: Java Edition. For Minecraft Java Edition, Hytale, and Vintage Story, the tool describes LAN syncing with Steam friends and experimental WAN syncing for friends outside the local network.
