Saints Row IV turns the Saints’ rise to the presidency into a science-fiction adventure: after an alien invasion devastates Earth, the Boss and crew find themselves in a simulated version of Steelport. Their mission is to break free of the simulation’s alien ruler, Zinyak, and rescue humanity. That premise gives the game’s political satire and over-the-top action an unusual setting, where the city itself is part of the conflict.
The Saints’ powers shape the action as much as their weapons. Players can leap over buildings, run through tanks, and attack with telekinetic force, while alien devices such as the Inflato-Ray, Polarizer, and Disintegrator expand the arsenal. Character and clothing customization are joined by weapon customization, making personal style part of the game’s broader appetite for extravagant mayhem. The story ranges across countries, time, and space rather than staying within a conventional city-crime framework.
The store lists single-player, multiplayer, co-op, and online co-op, so Saints Row IV offers more than one way to approach its action. The Re-Elected edition also includes two episodic story expansions, Enter The Dominatrix and How The Saints Save Christmas.
