Rusty Lake Paradise begins with Jakob, eldest son of the Eilander family, returning to the island after his mother’s death. Her passing is mysterious, and the place appears cursed by the ten plagues. Jakob must uncover his mother’s hidden memories and take part in strange family rituals as he tries to stop the calamities. That grim, surreal premise gives the adventure a distinctly personal focus: family secrets are bound up with the island’s crisis.
The game is a single-player point-and-click adventure built around puzzles rather than multiplayer encounters. Each plague brings its own atmosphere, suspense and set of Rusty Lake brain teasers, so the puzzle experience is framed as a sequence of unsettling thematic challenges. The pastel background paintings are handmade by Dutch painter Johan Scherft, while a soundtrack gives each plague its own theme song and variations. Achievements offer another reason to look for the island’s secrets.
Its identity rests on exploring a strange family story, solving brain teasers and uncovering hidden memories, with the ten-plague structure shaping the mood. It is the third premium point-and-click adventure from Rusty Lake, the studio behind the Cube Escape series, Rusty Lake Hotel and Rusty Lake: Roots.
