ROUTINE is a first-person science-fiction horror game set on an abandoned lunar base shaped by an ’80s vision of the future. The facility’s sudden silence turns curiosity into a struggle to survive, while an enemy treats the player as the main threat. Rather than directing players with waypoint markers, the game makes orientation part of its challenge: progress depends on observing the surroundings, exploring carefully, and reviewing data.
Its locations range from deteriorating living quarters and tram stations to an abandoned mall. Players investigate these spaces for information that helps piece together what happened before their arrival. The Cosmonaut Assistance Tool, or C.A.T., serves several practical roles: it can access critical terminals, help navigate the environment, and identify clues. When danger appears, players can run, hide, or try to defend themselves, with the C.A.T. described as a last resort. Full-body awareness, diegetic audio, and minimal interface elements support the game’s atmospheric approach.
Its defining rhythm is careful investigation under threat: each discovery may point deeper into the unknown, but the way forward is always through the base itself.
