Romestead puts settlement-building at the center of an action-adventure survival game set in a world where the dead walk at night and the Roman gods have fallen silent. Players begin with a camp and work toward a functioning town, balancing survival with a larger project: restoring civilization and rebuilding Rome. Its premise ties exploration and day-to-day settlement life to the effort to reconnect with the gods.
The practical work has a physical edge. Rocks, ores, and logs must be carried back individually, unless players assemble a cart train to move them together; a boulder can also serve as an improvised weapon against an approaching enemy. Recruited survivors become artisans, while settlements can develop around crafting, farming, and automated production. Finding new biomes opens the way to specialized towns and trade routes. Offerings and sacrifices restore the gods’ connection to the world, bringing technologies, buffs, and upgrades. Procedurally generated terrain combines handcrafted locations and secrets with dungeons, puzzles, gear, and formidable bosses.
Romestead supports solo play as well as multiplayer for up to eight, with difficulty scaling according to the number of players in a world.
