Rolling Line turns the hobby of model railroading into a hands-on railway simulator. Players can construct layouts from tracks, terrain, scenery, and props, then operate the trains they have arranged. The design spans both careful building and the pleasure of running a scenic miniature railway, with layouts intended to resemble working hobbyist model railroads.
Scale is a defining part of play: switch between exploring a layout at human size and viewing it as a miniature railway. Trains can be driven from inside the cab or controlled with handheld controllers, while wagons can be pushed along the rails by hand. Building tools add room for personal touches, from painting scenery to setting up signals and level crossings. Players can also explore official layouts or browse community-created layouts, trains, and liveries through Steam Workshop.
The game supports PC play with keyboard and mouse as well as VR, and offers multiplayer through public servers, private games, or LAN. Its appeal rests on shaping a railway as much as operating one, whether starting from an existing layout or making a new creation.
